S/ME45i-v04: Flash Patching ...
 

Hi All,
below is the modification that you can do with your S/ME45i_v04 full-flash to get "more" function/capability ...

PRECAUTION :
1. Use it very carefull, it is only compatible with S/ME45 using S45iv04 firmware with CRC-Check disabled.
2. All values are written in hexadecimal format, with or without leading 0x.
3. Check the original values before doing something. If yours are different then probably, we use a different firmware version, or you are on the wrong address. All addresses is based on its location in the full-flash file.
4. For fast modification, use partial flash, instead of full-flash. If the patching address is 0x183234 then you need to download your flash starting from address 0x180000 with size 0x10000. Save them to file x45_18.bin, edit data in the location 3234, save it, and upload again into the phone using the same setting (address 0x180000, size 0x10000).

1) Use 0 followed by [RightSoft] as a shortcut to "New Email" :

Do you know: Is it possible to increase flex memory in S/ME45? In Heap Monitor (Developer Menu) I see:

used: 6586
max. used: 0
max. avail: 16344

Do these values apply to free memory? If yes, is the way to use this free memory as flex memory? If yes, HOW? :confused:

Rizapn, my frien, thanks one more time. I tried this and ofcourse althought I didn't doubt, IT WORKS, and works PERFECT. I tried only this thing for disabling that AIR CHECK anoing thing and faveorites in right arrow key, and as I already said, it works great.

I didn't try other patches, because I am only interesting in this two patches. Others are alsoo great, but I like it more the way it already is. FOr example that patch about * 0 # with green button. That means that it has to be pressed two buttons and I have shortkey on button two for new sms, so I have to press only one button and it is faster and easier, right?

Can you tell me where is that post about increasing flex memory because I missed that topic and ofcourse I am very interesting in it.

Here's how to increase your Flexmem capacity
I've been researching my ME45i (ME45 with an S45i firmware) Flexmem and
it turned out that it's merely a virtual harddisk image.

Since it uses an old fashioned FAT file system, I've managed tweak it
to gain some additional storage capacity.

The original Flexmem capacity is 348KBytes and the Flexmem I tweaked is
393.5KBytes. Gaining up to 45.5KBytes of additional space (13% larger).

However, it seems that the last 512Bytes can not be used. It always
pops up an error, reporting that there are no more space left. Could
anyone check it before using the tweaked Flexmem? Thanks.

The other downside is that if you format the tweaked Flexmem via Data
Exchange or via your phone, the Flexmem's capacity will be restored
back to 348KBytes. You will need to perform the task as described above
again in order to have a total capacity of 393.5KBytes.

I've posted the URL to my empty tweaked Flexmem (see below). Use
UniSiemens (with usimload; ^_^ tee... hee...) or Siemens S45-ME45 Tools
to upload the Flexmem into address 140000 (the size is 080000).

You should backup your whole contents of Flexmem using one of those
applications to backup directly. Or you can use Data Exchange (for
Flexmem files) and VisSie / Mobile Navigator (for Addressbook) to
backup indirectly. Indirect backup is recomended if you intend to use
the tweaked Flexmem for long term.

Right after you uploaded the tweaked Flexmem and turned on your phone,
check your Addressbook by creating a new entry then view it.

Remember, this Flexmem has been tested on S45i firmware only (mine was
version 04). It may not work for other firmware versions (including
ME45 & S45).

For NRG and SkyLord: If you are reading this, could you find the
firmware code for the Flexmem formatting and have it patched? So when
everytime the Flexmem is formatted, it will be already tweaked? Thanks.

Rizapn, you're apsolutelly right.

But now, can you help me with something else.

I want to make a backup of my complete flexmem and I just wanted to do that via DATA EXCHANGE SOFTWARE, but while I copying SMS archieve, several times the whole process just stopped and than say some EXPLORER mistake and then I only could press CLOSE and when I do that whole system goes down, it goes on SHUTDOWN. I did that few time and always when it copies some specila part of SMS ARCHIEVE, it goes down. So because this SMS ARCHIEVE is very importante to me, and I want to make backup of it, can you please explain me what is wrong and how could I make this process complete? Just to tell you that I did that SMS ARCHIEVE backup, many times and always everythig was just fine. One more information. I try to manually enter in few last entered sms and it says FILE NOT READABLE, so maybe it cannot copy it because it is corrupted, but than again I don't know why is it corrupted and how to copy all that SMS messages, no matter some of them was corrupted, because there is TOO MUCH messagess and I cannot enter in all of them and check if everyone of them is OK, or not?


Second thing. How to make backup JUST of SMS ARCHIEVE? I know about that simply coping thing, but as you can see it doesn't work for me, and also I need some backup where all the messages will be in one file, so that I don't have couple of thousand txt files, and to have to entered one by one.
I found in VISSIE that SMS ARCHIEVE option but I cannot determine what messages is in that archieve. There is mainly messages from INBOX, and also there is few from ARCHIEVE, so it confuse me. But when I export that strange choice of messages it makes me EXCELL file which is JUST THAT WHAT I WANT.

SO, HOW CAN I MAKE SUCH KIND OF FILE, BUT WITH ALL MY SMS ARCHIEVE?

I think you can help me: How can I backup my addressbook of ME45 v30 (or other FW version) and then put it into my ME45i (v04) ? r/w book 2002 by ACiD [mrp] doesn't work well with polish signs (like œ, ³). Which address of flash I have to download and then upload to phone? Maybe could you write a full working program for addressbook backup (including polish signs support)? Please help. Manually addressbook entries copying is not good way :(

Mmm... I found a bug for this patch.

The patch is supposedly to replace the "View CB" function with the "Explorer" function.
But when we rececived a flash SMS and then we press the "#" (sharp) key, the "View" function is also replaced with the "Explorer" function.
Thus we can not save any received flash SMS into our phone.

We still can use the lower-left side button (I did try that) to get the flash message as a normal message, and save it.

Usually, I use s35cxz to do SIM and SMS Backup. But for addressbook inside the flexmem, let me try first ...

Addresbook, backup can be done very vell with vissie. I try this and it makes exell file and you can imort that file after increasing your flex memory.

I don't know how to to that same thing, but for SMS archieve, which is also stored in flex memory?
