i think as a gsm engineer you dont need all that for repairs as your customer will not be able to pay for such services. the best thing is for you to understand the pcb and its functions and repair those faults your customers can pay for. other major faults can be sent for factory repairs. anything apart from these could lead to more damage.

OK GUYS.... I am an engeenier I use to Work for SONY AUSTRALIA for many years in the profesional deparment.........now I repair GSM HANDSETS........oscilloscope yes its a wanderfull tool

The problem here its that no many got it and ABSOLUTTLY USELESS IN GSM REPAIRS.

NOTE: I have 2 I have never needed then in a mobile phone repair......

Hell many people in this forum dont even know how to use a mulitimiter properlly LOL

I agree that the device is the best hardware tool for finding the faults in the mobile , however this can not find all the faults.

heheheh u right bro...

i think many technician here can not use multitester correctly....

osciloscope just a tool.. i think its about our skill , about how we can understand schematic and measurement....

if we have skill on that... i think its will great if we use osciloscope...

i have training centre here in indonesia.. and i just teach my student use osciloscope for network problem

I am glad that your school still use and teach how to use a CRO, indeed it is a very important tool.

But like you said SKILL is the TOOL we all need.
Many people here claim to be tech..............and many dont know how to read a schematic or know the meaning or what a transistor do.

I wish i could teach my skills, i wish you the best and keep teaching.

For everyone else changing an LCd or flashing a phone DOES NOT MAKE YOU A TECH......knloage and skill does

we must expert about schematic and measurement, cause we make analisys be based our result of reading and measuring by tool...

i think we just need standard tool sir....

for repair dead phone u must have frequency counter, power suply and avometer (multy tester)

osciloscope is need if we wanna repair signal problem accurately

oscilloscope is the best tool for acurate measure of signals or even dc voltages & most used in baseband repair also can be used in
rf field to check rf clock , I/Q signals & rfbus signals from cpu to rf asic .

in mobiles phones it has no limit of use :

1- u can measure crystals activity ( frequency & output amplitude to be sure of exact needed output )
2- u can measure signals of busses between ics ( rfbus & cbus)
3- u can check i2c lines activity to check faults like camera faults
4- u can check signals where pull up resitances found so u can see signals & check pull up validity
5- u can check ram , flash & sleep clocks to solve freezing & restarting problems
6- u can check smps clock used to drive the light ics
7- u can check clock & data lines of mmc
8- u can check bluetooth , gps & wlan busses signals & clocks

& much more

so we can say that oscilloscope is an important tool to work poffesionaly in gsm handsets repair field
