Which country are you in? I got one made in the UK for about £20. I have also moved my thermocouple on the jovy and works a hell of a lot better than it did before.

I had mine made to measure by this company. I opted for a 1.5mm, and its far more accurate than the jovy one.

I will upload some images one my jovy thermocouple mods.

I have written some software that allows you to profle your jovy and shows graphs to show heating ranges under different settings. It will then export the settings to a usable *.jvy file. Still needs some work, but im getting there. It all runs online with job management system. If anyone wants to see the demo send me a pm and i will let you look at the site.

ok the thermocouple was 1.5mm mineral insulated K type. I had it made 130mm long. with 300mm of wire. Bloke i spoke to was David Skinner, and I explained a bit a the jovy to him. got mine about 20th august last year. Might help him trace the order so he can make another. I think im going to get a few more made and try the thinner ones. but the 1.5mm has been great.

I have attached some images of my jovy mods below

Moving the TC to the back of the jovy has made it a lot easier to use. Im right handed which means i can now move the tc with my left hand while having the vacuum pick in the other etc. You need to turn the locking lever the other way up, but this also makes it easier to use IMHO.

You do need to open the jovy to move it and drill a few small holes in the back.

to fit the new tc into the metal sleeve I cut the wire off then drilled it out with a 6.5mm (i think).

Thanks Kujoy, just order 2 one as you suggested which is the insulated one and one with a grounded tip which is more responsive to temperature changes. Should be here by end of week £40 delivered and Jovy quote was £90 for one

No problem, will be interested to hear how you get on with the grounded tip. I didnt know they made them. Once you have finally got rid of the jovy one its worth having a few because they are easy to swap. they are also a good fit into the tube so you can slide them in and out and rotate the tc slightly if need be.

I think when you buy a jovy one you get most of the assembly as well hence the price.

Getting the old one out can be bit of a beast. I would imagine its the time your paying for.

Anyway let me know how you get on. If you ordered 1.5mm you might be better moving the position as I did as the extra thickness doesnt allow as much bending. With mine in the position its now in I have only had to bend it to shape once and it avoids most of the components you get around the BGA your working on.
