Hi Raheeeb,

I send a email to support and this moring they send me a register file that has to be copied in the directory where the re-8500 software is. So problem solved.

Thanks for your help. This evening i am going to do the first board with the new machine. It looks very good and promising.

After experimenting with the RE-8500 i must say it is a impressive device. It works very quick and is much more controllable then the RE-7500. The upper heater is on temperature very fast and now it is possible to control the tbl perfectly.

The new software is feeling a bit strange. I think i have to get used to it. I never used profiles and now i have to. The manual control of the software is not so good as from the RE-7500.

I am struggling with the temperature sensors. Sometimes they do not stick to the board and the wires are very stiff. However the sensor of the RE-7500 was easy to work with, this sensors are much more accurate. I think i have to get used to this kind of sensor.

The only disadvantage is the way you move the upper heater. Now you have to use two hands to swing it over. It also is not clear to me what is the correct height adjust. It has no scale.

Overall (until now) i think the RE-8500 is a big improvement. It has more power, more surface and powercontrolled heaters.

This evening i am doing the first PS3 on the new Jovy. The xbox360 went very well.

Hi Monitron,

you are welcome!

Share with us your experiences , for thermocouple stick it with reflective tape even if you covered the sensor part.

regards

RE-8500 is a professional Easy to use Rework station. it is not BGA rework station only it is really Rework Station..

- Lap top CPU socket reballed and solder back 100% successful without any color change or damaged plastic part and De-well on Peak for 60 seconds.
- Dimm socket de-soldered and soldered back 100% - comments as above
- GPU nVIDIA g86XXX 3 process desoldered and replaced with new ones - IC was new and no re-flow needed after soldering back just in first time.

More will be available soon... Process analysis is best new feature till now - never seen before....

Just got the RE8500 in. Excited to see how it performs. When I saw it was available I sold the BIRD 5000. Didn't like the BIRD at all.

As I have been telling Jovy for 12months after buying the 7500 the bottom heater is to small they now bring out one with a bigger bottom heater. Jovy Support just kept fobbing me off saying I was using incorrectly. Need better customer support.

Well, haven't worked a lot with the RE8500 yet. Have a lot more testing to do. The only real complaint I have is with the upper heater movement. It is cumbersome to say the least. They should have stuck with the RE7500 upper heater movement mechanism. I am actually contacting Jovy to see if they can replace it for me. The support beam diameter and length are actually the same on both models. Also, there is no markings to tell you the height of the upper heater. They refer to level 4 and 5 in the Jovy videos but I don't know where that is. They should have improved the upper heater movement not make it worse.
Had issues with the software and drivers at first, but I sorted that out and they just released some new firmware and software for the RE8500. The update went ok, but you have to uninstall the previous version first or it wont work.
Also, the lower TC has to be attached to the board with tape, so I switched to 3M 363 high temp reflective tape. works great. Holds up to 300C very well. We all know that the cheap stuff will fall right off the board when it gets hot. The 363 stays in place and is reusable.
That's it 4 now. Lets hear some more. This RE8500 has some potential. Just need to work out some bugs.
