Hi Guys, I tell you how to get 5-8 Degrees out of GPU.

You just put non conductiove thermal pad in other side og GPU and if, cut the exact size form palmrest plastic shield and put thermal paste between pad and palmrest steel !

I'll try that but not all HP's have palmrest metal at the GPU spot. Also the CPU is an overheating factor.

Maybe can do the same with CPU, DOES any tested gpu temp before and after placing copper shim?

hi everyone. Is it possible to change from one GPU chip brand to another (i.e. ATI to nVidia) or one model to a higher one (i.e. ATI 7500 to ATI 9500) or MUST be exactly the same with the previous GPU chip on a Laptop? Pls, i will really appreciate your comments.

Hi,
From ATI to NVIDIA not possible and vice-versa. (I have'nt see same layout of ATI and NVIDIA)

For interchange in same brand is possible, but U must be sure that:
Chip's layout fits (not only case, but pinouts too)
if changing from 64bit to 128bit U must add more RAM
if changing from 128bit to 64bit U will lose 1/2 of RAM amount
VGA bios (external or internal) must fit to Your new chip
U must know little more about schematics, straps etc.
be sure that new chip will not heats more than previous..

The only time you can change GPU makers is if the GPU is on a separate card like in the Dell M90/9500 where they offer ATI or Nvidia options. But never with an individual chip.

i always recommaned orginal thermal pad with higher watt and good performance. actually i choose laird's pad's with 5w.
