Setting up the Preheater

GOBI, I am an onwer of this station too, and i wonder if YOu can explain me how to use the pre-heater with digital scale (not manual scale). I read Your manual about the station and now i need an info how to use the pre-heater (temperature and stuff like this). There are 4 buttons and 2 mini digi lcd's.

That digital scale on the preheater is the temperature of the coil(heating element) inside. The buttons are user friendly, like selecting channels on your tv. This will set the maximum temperature you want to achieve on the coil inside. The actual temperature of the pcb can be measured by the thermometer included in the package.

On the new stocks of preheater, this digital scale was removed to avoid confusion to the users.

Regards,
ren

Thx a lot for Your answer. SO when i put e.g. 300 degrees the heating element of preheater is scaled to this temperature. Am i right?? SO BCP's temp should be about 100 degrees.

Yes, for preheating pcb's, around 100 degrees is enough.

Just a small add-on: For some Lead-Free PCB's you may use preheater temperature close under 200 degree Celsius.

It can go over 200 degree, no problem.

Example:
When the preheater shows the temperature of the coil(heating element) inside arround 445 C, then i measured under the PCB arround 220C, with the Thermometer coming with the Infra station.

Of course if we put too high temperature, the components on the down side of the PCB will start falling down -- and we don't want this, isn't it?
And at some point also the components and the PCB get's toasted ...

So, it is no need to exagerate with the preheater temperature ..

regards,
Gobi
