Apple Monitoring iPhone 4S Owners For Finding A Fix To Battery Drain Problem - GSM-Forum

Recently a lot of iPhone 4S owners are complaining that their new device has a serious case of battery drain. The battery on iPhone 4S which should be performing well considering its new, actually drains quite a lot and is becoming a source of nuisance for the owners. Apple engineers are reaching out to iPhone 4S owners and monitoring their devices, with their permission, in order to find a fix to this problem.

One such iPhone 4S owner, who was approached by Apple engineers has shared the method the fruit company is using in order to find a fix to battery drainage issue.

My battery life was extremely poor - 10% drop in standby every hour. I noticed that the usage figure was roughly half that of standby, even when the phone was not being used, so I assumed something was crashing or running in the background. I switched off all the new features including Siri and location services, but it was still really poor. I also tried setting up a clean phone with no apps but it is still really poor.
I then got a call from a senior [Apple] engineer who said he had read my post and was ‘reaching out’ to users for data and admitted this was an issue (and that they aren’t close to finding a fix!) and asked lots of questions about my usage and then asked if he could install the file below and that he would call back the day after to retrieve the info. I extracted the file from my Mac after a sync and emailed it to him. He was incredibly helpful and apologetic in the typical Apple way!

Have you been facing similar battery drainage issue on your iPhone 4S? Has anyone of you been approached by Apple? Hopefully the company will release a fix for this soon and this issue will be over. We'll update you more as it comes in.

As with most Apple products, the iPhone 4S is very popular, indeed. Millions sold in minutes, and millions more are anticipated to sell. The iPhone 4S, however, appears to be a bit buggy. I also purcahsed this iPhone 4S. And I also experienced the same problem. The best theory thus far is that the iPhone 4S programming bugs are depleting much more battery power than they should be.
