Help Req. to unlock Iphone 3GS - GSM-Forum

Hi, I'm from India. Can anyone help me how to unclock iphone 3gs free of cost! Its a new unused instrument procured from Australia thru Telstra & the carrier has unlocked the phone. However when I tried syncing it with my vodafone gsm sim card with itunes it shows that sim card not supporting instrument. I am not aware of the software version too! Want to have the solution in a very easy to go & simplified english! Please let me know if anyone can help me. Thank you.

Use Redsn0w to jailbreak

then open cydia

go to source and unlock by ultrasnow

At first...u have to know which SW version is running on ur phone....and also need to know Modem Fw version..........let me know about ur SW ver and Moem fw and i will help u bro....

Unfortunately, I am a big duffer & not able to figure out the details required by you to enable me to help! Mobile & software has never been my domain! I am an exceptional basic user!

Can you please guide as what is SW & Modem FW version and from where I can have the information on same?

I have a desktop with Windows XP & a broadband internet modem with speed of 3.1 mbps.

I am an exceptional basic user! I am a first time user of iphone!

I tried going thru links:

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Redsn0w 0.9.4 | Redmond Pie

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Sn0wbreeze | Redmond Pie

But I am not able to figure out the firmware version of the phone & whether it has older bootrom or new bootrom?

If the firmware & modem version has to accessed thru the phone settings then it is impossible as it is locked on the syncing stage only thus I am not at all able to operate the phone!

Just go to setting/general/about and u will see all info about ur phone bro.....

Bro.......Use redsnow0.9.6b6 version to jailbreak it once by just tick on Install cydia option.........U have to select 4.1 official fw for 3gs at begin.........And then u need to reopen redsnow and Tick Install Ipad Baseband Option and wait for 30minute..........Then go to cydia from ur phone and go to Sourse tab and install Ultrasnow via WIFI...........And U are Done bro........Sorry For Late Reply........

Thanks for your help. Now, I need not require to do jailbreak as I called up the Telstra's call center at Melbourne, gave them the IMEI # & hurray my iphone is now unlocked.

Just 1 question, can I update my software version from itunes or should I never update which may result in locking the phone again? Any idea?

You have been really kind & I appreciate your efforts for helping me. Thank you so much.
