Dev-Team Releases RedSnow 0.9.2

The iPhone Dev-Team has finally released RedSnow 0.9, a program that is capable of unlocking and customizing iPhones and iTouches. Customizing includes changing the boot logos, recovery mode logos, and “verbose” boot. It’s a standalone program that doesn’t use iTunes (no custom IPSWs are involved). What devices, platforms, and FW versions are supported?

This release supports:
All iPhones and iPod touches (still a tethered-only JB for late-model devices though)
Apple firmware 3.0 and 3.1.2
Windows and Mac OSX (x86)

It will also soon run on the PPC OSX, and Linux platforms.

If you need a carrier unlock, redsn0w will handle iPhone 2G by itself (by installing our BootNeuter utility). For the 3G and 3GS, use Cydia after you’re jailbroken to install ultrasn0w (baseband 04.26, preferred) or blacksn0w (baseband 05.11).

How does it differ from Blackra1n?

Unlike the Blackra1n, RedSnow installs Cydia, and the IPCC tethering hack without needing separate downloads.

How long should it take?

You should see a picture of a drive (“Downloading Jailbreak Data”) within 30 seconds of launching the jailbreak (after you’ve made your custom selections). It should then reboot and you should see a running pwnapple while the process is underway. It should finish within a minute or two after that, and will reboot on its own.
Is it safe?

The Windows version has been tested by small groups of volunteers on IRC and our blog since mid-January. That being said, if things go wrong you may have to do a system restore…so make sure your data and pictures are synced before trying it.

the 3gs bootrom problem can be bypassed using simple tricks and combining all the tools available for both mac and windows!
basically,
for mac users,
restore stock 3.1.2 firmware on 3gs
create custom firmware using pwnage tool and selecting only cydia be preinstalled
restore custom firmware
useadd blackra1n.com to cydia sources and install blacksn0w! enjoy!

for win users,
restore stock 3.1.2 firmware
u must download or collect from friend 'mac created custom firmware'
use redsn0w to jailbreak following its instructions.(at this point 3gs would retsrt to restore mode if u reboot)
the above step pwns ur phone to allow the custom firmware upload
so, with phone on and still connected to pc, put phone in dfu mode without shutting down (i.e hold power+home buttons for 8 sec(yes 8 sec) the release power button and stay with the home button forever or until windows finds 'new' dfu device and installs- of course u should let go now!
dont fire up itunes because itunes shouldve been running in the background (somewhere in the midst of this untidy guide above you shouldve ended itunes and restarted it. i'll let u figure that one out)
hold shift+restore in itunes and select ur borrowed/downloaded custom firmware and start smiling!
any errors whatsoever on itunes during cust firmware restore means u didnt pwn phone successfully so get back at it and start to redo steps from redsn0w

can you help me pls, because I'am realy confused, I have one 2G in my hand, v3.1.2, I use Redsn0w 9.2 for this and choose firmware 3.1.2, but have a probleme when the handset restart with an error on software and software stop,

in the last time for versio 3.1 I think I need choose v3.0, it's same this with this new firmware ?

if ur Phone still is on 3.1.2
then Blackrain for Jailbreak,
install Cydia via Blackrain.
in Cydia search for Boot Neuter , install.
Open Boot Neuter,Neuter for Unlock.

tks for your help, I resole my probleme from 2 hours, I just instal Cydia with blackrain, and just with this the phone is unlocked, or maybe I run rizwan software for unlock with out wifi and forget , phone is unlocked and work good,
