iphone 3gs 32gb screen issue

My backlight seemed to work all day today then suddenly it turned off, then it will turn on again and so on, is there a connection issue somewhere or is the lcd itself fried?

Alright I took it to a shop and the guy told me it's not a LCD problem as the backlight will sometimes come on, he said it was the main board issue and tht the water that entered had made connection issues or something
