Is it unlocked? Are you using the correct network sim? Has the phone been blacklisted?

What is the original network of phone?

^He does not need to restore to 4.1.

You can unlock it using redsn0w rc8

However you must flash the iPad baseband - redsn0w has the option to do this,

the ipad baseband affects the gps, meaning you wont be able to use navigation applications such as TomTom.

You also can not revert back from the iPad baseband to the normal baseband

All you need is redsn0w rc8 - and the 4.2.1 ipsw .

Once flashed the ipad baseband just run ultrasn0w

Unlock it.

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc6
Download IPSW 4.2.1 from felix bruns

1. connect phone to pc.
2. turn phone completely off
3. run redsnow and point to the 4.2.1 ipsw
4. tick cydia and ipad baseband
5. follow on screen instructions to put phone in dfu and wait till process is complete.

Your phone is now jailbroken and will have 6.15 ipad baseband.

Make sure your phone is connected to wifi

1. Cllick cydia and wait for it to update (choose hacker when asked)
2. search for ultrasn0w on cydia and install

Your phone will now be unlocked
