Respected members,I've an iPhone 3gs 5.0.1,Baseband 05.16.05 and serial no.-85012KEU3NQ.I just want to know is it safe to jailbreak & unlock this device or not.I'll be much thankfull for the help.

yes brother you need downgrade for unlock .

Sir, I've successfully downgraded. But now which version of redsnow should i use to install the 6.15 baseband. Please help me.

Brother use readsn0w_win_o.9.6b6 for jeilbreak and install ipod baseband .

Sir, with redsnow 0.9.6b6 when i click on browse & select the custom firmware file, it shows erorr 'unable to recognize the specified ipsw'. Am I doing something wrong?

put 4.1 original firmware not custom firmware.
make sure u are using redsnow 0.9.6b6

yes it is safe,just jailbreak using redsn0w10b5,install cydia,then install ultrasn0w,.

Its safe but will he loose GPS? Can you do this straight on 5.0.1 or do you need custom firmware. I put the ipad baseband on and lost gps and now running ultrasnow but not sure yet if the unlock worked or not.
