You don't have to wait until battery dies, you can try these 2 different ways,
#1. hold the power & home both at same time for 15 seconds, then press the power for 2 seconds, this will reset
#2. hold the power & home both at same time for about 8-10 seconds, you will see the screen go off with a bright flash light, release both button and wait 2-3 minutes then connect the charger to it, I use this way whenever the iphone can't awake from sleep

Regards

What file did you use to restore your iphone? just open the itune, connect your iphone and click restore, this is the original apple file, you will not get any error, after it's restored then run the Blackra1n to jailbreak and unlock it.

i do an original apple 3.1.2 restore (by just pressing the restore button and nothing else)

and after its done, the error 28 comes up, and i cannot get rid of it.

Hi Bro, if you did the original restore fw from itunes and still getting the error 28, only other options according to Apple tech-support, are let the battery die and recharge then try restore again, if still remains then take to the store and get you a replacement one.

use latest version of itunes.....

CellFree 11-07-2009 23:34

used latest version of itunes, and the iphone is a 2G, so i dont believe apple will take it back under warranty.

i checked out the mainboard and i didnt see any irregularities... so im at a loss, im not sure what to do at this point.

is this phone beyond repair?

CellFree 11-10-2009 20:17

does no one have an answer to this?

Have you tried making a restore in DFU mode?

CellFree 11-11-2009 03:11

yes, DFU mode still did not allow the phone to restore without the error 28

has anyone else had this issue?

OK, this may sound wierd, but try to restore it without SIM card inside and on different USB port (or PC if possible).

CellFree 11-11-2009 22:40

I tried restoring on both a pc and a mac. So that can rule out the different port idea. Also i did try restoring with and without an active iphone at&t sim.

Im really puzzled.

Thank you everyone for all your ideas!

I hope someone can figure this out.
