i have a new laptop and downloaded some firmware files and at the end of the file name i renamed it .ipsw and its still a zip file how do i solve this please

yes i do is that the problem

so, under win7 go to:folder options--->view tab -- and " Hide extensions for known file types" after that change zip to ipsw
