sim card does not supported

iphone 3G ver.3.1.3 modem ver.5.12
come in itunes mode, when i connect to itunes it said : the sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported.
can't restore, cause no restore comes up, only asked to update to the last ver.
i've tried with a one sim & iphone spirit activation card, but not working,
what to do ?
now i am trying to update online with itunes (in progress now)...
