Change text input method? - Star C5000

Hello all. New to the forum and all that. Hope to start playing around with a Star C5000 I have had sitting in a drawer for a couple of years.

I did a quick search and can not find if there is a way to change the method in which you enter text, either for text messages, web pages or url ad*******. Currently if you are on a web page and you click to enter text in a text box, address bar or what have you, it takes you to a second screen which you then have to tap, and you are taken to yet another screen where a keyboard finally comes up and you can enter text. To actually get the text posted, you then go through this procedure backwards (i.e. back to the middle screen that shows your text, then back to the web page / browser where your text is inserted in the box.

Is there a way to change this? This is the main reason I stopped using this phone shortly after I got it in the first place. The ideal solution is to be similar to the iphone (and others) where you click the text box and the keyboard pops up on that same screen and you can enter text directly.

If the solution is to flash the phone with a modified .bin, I am willing to do that, as that is probably my next step for playing around with this thing.
