Why did you click the connect since you know you dont have the box? Of course it will say no box connected..

just used the other buttons..read,flash,format etc..

It is working..

For beginners good choice is FlashTool. FlashTool free and you can repair some phones and get money to buy good box that can repair other phones that will be killed by you with cracked/free tools without support
