For me it´s working fine
First of all you must make some space by deleting some strings in another language or clear a hole labguage-pack.
After that you can make strings also longer than the original.

After modifying the language you must use the "Standart Recompile" button.
Now you can save the new firmware in "patch maker" and "Save full image"

I translated a whole I9+++ firmware that way. Very good!!!
