Blackberry 6280 usable in Australia?? - GSM-Forum

Hi all, I have a lot of Blackberry 6280 phones that I'm trying to fix up. My question is will these work in Australia by modifying them? These phones are triband and operate on the GSM 850/1800/1900 bands and Australia uses the 900/1800 bands. I've done some reading around and read that GSM 900 is the main frequency in Australia but some services do still operate on 1800. Right now I cannot get any service even from making an emergency call so can someone shed some light on this for me.

Can I flash 6230 firmware to it since the 2 phones are practically identical and if so does anyone have a link?

Ok, I flashed it, made no difference at all since the 2 phones have the same flash file. So is there anyway to get this phone running on the GSM 900 band??

Can someone answer my questions already?! I don't understand much about GSM frequencies but if this phone covers GSM 1800 and from what I understand GSM 1800 is usable in Australia why is it not getting any service?

DO you guys know how to unlock a BB 6280. Need o unlock my BB. I am looking to use a chip in my phone on the networks in the countries that I have to travel when I work. It is proving to be very expensive. [email protected]
