cfp.exe / hahanew.exe is the same with loader.exe , located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader ?

so i may use "loader -u load MFI-10396-034" instead of "cfp -u load MFI-10396-034" ?

No, the loader in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader is not the same.

Someone had renamed cfp.exe to loader.exe and bundled it with some batch files.

Bold VSM for Vendor -1 (RIM Engineer Devices)

Boy, I´m totally confused about all the different requests for VSM-Files... I was able to debrand my Bold to vendor 179 but now want to switch to -1 which should be the vendor-ID for RIM engineer devices if I´m right. Anyone here who knows which VSM I need and where to get it ?

VSM-20188-003 should be the correct file for your device.

Hi There,

To start with, thx for all the work...

I've succesfully unlocked a Orange Pearl 8120 by Clearing MEP for it to work on Bouygues (French Carrier) and now id like to unbrand it...

So i've dowloaded the "All VSM Pack" and im trying to figure out what SVM to load :

VSM-09712-002 This should fix the Carrier ID to 179... Am i right? And will it work on 8120?

I've also selected Bouyges's VSM
VSM-08904-002
VSM-08904-003
VSM-15202-001

These should switch the ID to Bouygues but will they work on a Pearl 8120???

And if i ever want to rebrand the phone to Orange wich ones of the following will work?
VSM-07625-001
VSM-07625-002

And by the way, could i somehow make a dump of my original VSM file?

If you have not yet loaded any VSM to your BlackBerry then you can use MML and click SW Part List to find out what VSM file is original for your phone. Make a note of it and make sure the same VSM file is in the all_vsm_pack. If you don't find it, I think Furious Gold has a button to save the VSM. I don't have FG so I don't know if it saves the complete VSM including signature. Using the BrandingInfo program on your phone, you can retrieve the branding data as files on your phone which can then be copied to your computer and combined into a VSM file. Please note that this does NOT recreate the exact VSM file because it does not save the signature. More than likely you will find your VSM file in the pack anyway.

As to which VSM to load, you can only use one VSM at a time. You can load each VSM in turn and try it out. You can search the forum for parseVSM and use it to split each VSM you are considering into files so you can check the resolution of the splash screen and the contents of txt files to see what may have been intended for your device. If you don't find one VSM you like everything about then you can learn how to create your own by searching this forum with Show Posts selected for custom VSM branding file.

Any of the VSM files should load and most of them should "work". For some, the splash screen may not fit or may be scaled to fit. For other VSM files, the vendor may have disabled some feature of the phone or set something to a setting that only works for their subscriber. I don't think it is possible for loading any VSM file to release the magic smoke from your BlackBerry although it can be time consuming since to see the effects of loading the file it is necessary to load the OS back to the phone.

I wanted to re-brand my AT&T Bold to something else in order to enable the 2G/3G selection option. When I compared VSM-11697-001 (Engineering Use) with VSM-18868-002 (AT&T Bold), the Engineering use VSM seems to be very small compared to its AT&T counterpart, and so I was suspicious of losing some functionalities with it. Therefore, I used a Rogers Bold VSM (VSM-18863-003).

The Rogers VSM file loaded and worked like a champ. My phone's vendor ID changed from 102 to 107 and I got the 2G/3G selection option and I'm able to switch between 2G and 3G with no issues at all. However, there are a few unexpected (but minor) symptoms I've noticed, and I'm wondering if these symptoms also appear when loading VSM-11697-001:

1. Some of the AT&T bloatware re-appeared on my phone (e.g. media net, AT&T Telenav icons). This is quite surprising to me since the device's OS memory was completely wiped, and the vendor ID was no longer AT&T when reloading the OS back on the phone. I was expecting Rogers' bloatware to appear. Maybe this gets auto-installed upon receiving service books?

2. The icon for BB Maps no longer exists (even when viewing all hidden icons). I am using OS 4.6.0.247. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling BB maps, and I've tried re-sending my service books, but I had no luck there. The BB Maps application DOES get installed, just the icon doesn't show up anywhere. I don't use BB maps much (I use google maps instead), so this isn't a big deal, but still makes me curious.

For the people who rebranded an AT&T bold with VSM-11697-001, do you guys notice any of the above symptoms?

1. At&t bloatware is pushed down from At&t via service books. If you are on at&t network, you cannot avoid this. I recommend hiding the icons.

2. BBMaps will not work on at&t. Even though you are Rogers branded (107), it will still not work. Requires service book from at&t I believe, which is not pushed down.
