Hi Ozling, thanks for the headsup. In the view map, it says no map?

BTW, wondering if there's anyone from KL that has a BT GPSr that can be 'loan' for a while to test if it works?

I'm in the midst of looking for one, but I'm affraid that I can't get it to work or if it's not worthwhile for me to invest in one.

Otherwise, have no choice but to get a standalone unit

It will give you a WARNING when you are near a speed camera. Not necessary but good to have.

I uninstalled everything and started over. Here's what I did:

1) Install Mobile XT: GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_41040w
- chose storage card
2) Start Garmin, look in About and get ID
3) run KeyGen:
- Calculate the key and create your sw.unl file
- Calculate the key and create your GMAPSUPP.UNL
chose City Navigator North America NT 2008
- Copied 2 above files to Garmin Root of storage Card (no .txt)
4) Install base map: GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4***x.exe
- gmapbmap.img was installed
5) Garmin MapSource - choose a couple states then transfer
Start application and get:
Can't unlock maps for garmen device with unit id: ******xx - OK

Obviously doing something wrong but have no idea what.

I tried running KeyGen, put in my Devide ID, generate new numbers (everytime generates new numbers) I get same results.

Ideas?

Hi everyone, just joined today, and this is my 3rd site trying to get this to work on my N82, ive read pretty much everything in this thread, and the reason im quoting this is because ive pretty much done everything this user did, my problem is that when i try to transfer maps to my phone, theyre constantly being transferred in DEMO MODE, i was told previously that i should be able to enter an unlock code in the ABOUT section where the UNLOCK ESN is found, but im not able to unlock anything from there, i dont know waht to do, ive been at this for a month, so please, any help will be greatly appreciated, as i cant figure out why its DEMO ONLY when ive followed the instructions properly

If you get the no map, it mean either:
1) No basemap installed.
2) No compatible maps in the .img format in the garmin folder.

The free map from malsing in the gmapsupp.img can just be copied to the garmin folder in your mmc. Just make sure you have a basemap installed.

You should not see this if you are using the correct version of the program. Garmin4.10.60 from Taiwan has demo time limitation on it, but once you enter the sw.unl key, it unlocks the program to work beyond the time limit. Suggest you get anohter version, eg 4.10.20 or 4.10.40, get it unlocked then install the 4.10.60 update.

I got the malsingmap *gmapsupp.img* in the garmin folder.

Ok, I googled for the Garmin XT base map and here's what I found...

http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...ls.jsp?id=3645

It's a worldwide basemap. Though I'd share... Cheers!

Will update the status later...

Ok, abit of an update...

Manage to view Malaysia's detailed map after I get the base map in. Thanks Ozling.

BTW, are you from KL? I'm looking for someone with a BT GPSr that can loan me for a while to test out if it works on the P1i and weather it's feasable for the amount spent on the BT GPSr?

Read someones commented that the software's laggy?

you need to generate a new device unlock code,

try formatting memory card, factory reset phone, install garmix xt, generate unlock code (this should work )
