Member: 696623 Status: Offline Sonork: 100.1601050 Thanks Meter: 526 | Topic is all about flashing a NOKIA BB5 generation phones. What is the difference between flashing via USB and FBUS? As Advance box release their ATF (Advance Turbo Flasher), their mostly good asset is the SPEED. Yes Speed! Speed flashing via FBUS. USB FLASHING * Usb Flashing updates only firmwares. Means Partial flashing or can be refurbished flashing, Was mentioned by x- shadow here. * Usb Flashing doesn't touch the securities certificates like the HWC CCC NPC etc. * It is confirmed that USB flashing can flash DEAD phones (software side). * USB flashing is just a pure flashing, cannot back up RPL. * It parsed the mcu in different locations, different area in erasing. Upgrading version will not erase phone data. This is nice when you have just to upgrade some new features in nokia like 5800 using 2nd camera feature. FBUS Flashing * FBUS is more faster than the USB (via ATF), thier secret we don't know, but probably because Fbus flashing directly communicate with the flash Memory. Or they don't use smart card anymore they use AES-128 protected FPGAs , some explanation here. * Speedy FBUS flashing of ATF, secret maybe on its box or the chips they use. More higher speed can handle and more phones can trigger into its best speed it can, plus the speed of your PC via USB 2.0. * Fbus touches fully the securities of the phone. Full Flashing. * Fbus can back up RPl, certificates, PM, etc. Can Diagnose any fault. copy paste from http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/5487142-post21.html some more info The Fastbus standard specifies completely the size, power requirements, signalling levels, and communications protocols for boards that live in a Fastbus crate, which is also a part of the specification. on the other hand 1.2 USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a specification[1] to establish communication between devices and a host controller (usually personal computers).[2] USB is intended to replace many varieties of serial and parallel ports. USB can connect computer peripherals such as mice, keyboards, digital cameras, printers, personal media players, flash drives, and external hard drives. For many of those devices, USB has become the standard connection method. USB was designed for personal computers[citation needed], but it has become commonplace on other devices such as smartphones, PDAs and video game consoles, and as a power cord between a device and an AC adapter plugged into a wall plug for charging. As of 2008[update], there are about 2 billion USB devices sold per year, and approximately 6 billion total sold to date.[3] The design of USB is standardized by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), an industry standards body incorporating leading companies from the computer and electronics industries. Notable members have included Agere (now merged with LSI Corporation), Apple Inc., Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Microsoft, Sony and NEC. as you can see on quoted(1.1) words.. clearly indicated that a FBUS communication where use to transmit and to recieve direct nor vice versa. same as USB but the difference is USB communicate faster than an ordinary FBUS communication port as its stated to run on Quote:

so obviously USB transfers bit/bits faster than FBUS. but Advance Turbo Flasher a.k.a.(ATF) uses a special loader combined with a dram technology to multiply its transfer rate to a much and more faster than a USB 2.0.. (good job manong PG hands off ako sayo) same as FTDI technology which is also good transferring bit/bits but not as fast as ATF on its dram... well this is all just a base on what i think of because even i don't have ATF box yet to see what's inside and may be i am wrong.. conclusion: if your on a big working shop with a lots of works to be done i would recommend you using this tool(ATF). else better stick to FTDI chips copy paste from http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/5494566-post31.html Last edited by ..:: Devil_king ::..; 12-02-2010 at 11:17. | ||
