Member: 1423200 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 53 | i think it would be btter t ogo for nvidia cards becuase then you can take advantage of CUDA. the ati cards dont have CUDA im alos asking "will having a better cpu play a crucial part in the time it takes to unlock?" |

Member: 515830 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 80 | ati is beter. 5970 have 3000 stream cores. and 4.9teraflops. ati have cuda but with other name. ati call this tech "stream" not buy quad or x6 with 5870. dual core with 2gb and 5970 is faster |

Member: 515830 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 80 | 6990 is a graphic beast, but is not for sale until 02/2011 and dont will be cheap. if the prereleased data is ok 2x6990 will unlock sl3 in 7/8hs Drivers are also a big problem. better drivers for 5970 are catalyst 10.5, in the latest vercion just work one gpu on stream (remember 5970 is better because has 2 gpu in one card) and maybe ati dont release a good fixed driver until 06/2011. Dont forget power supply with real 1000w and a good heat solution if you dont want to reball you card every weak. A stock cooled card at full load for 24hs will burn in 2 days if you are lucky. First you need to do some stress test to you sistem like "sandra" with that program you will know if your sistem can support heavy work. a well cooled environment is required. the big boom of sl3 will come when mx team release a cluster or cloud solution. escuse my bad english |
