Does mxkey bruteforcer support 4x gpus like hd5850 or 5870?

Hi everyone,
I`m just buying 4 pcs of hd5850 ati card (cheap here)and will give them hd5870 bios as the same chipset and board.
Can I use them for bruteforce in a quad crossfire motherboard and how long the max calculation time will take roughly?
Experts please help me!

Yes 4X 5850 and 5858 are supported.

And 2X 5970 max pcs are supported.


Beter use 2 x 5970- 24hours mac calculated time for all 10000 salts, or 2X5870- 48hours max. for all 10000 salts
In windows support and you can use max 4 GPU-cores.

More than 4 cores yu must use Linux.

I know it would be better to use hd 5970 but why I`m buying 5850 cos its possible to use it as 5870 and I`m buying the 4 pcs for £400 so can`t build cheaper machine with this spec for bruteforce.
I also looking at hd 6790 too.(just checked it only 800 stream processors)
Same price.
What do u think abotu that?

For best results use Only Win7 64bit+Caatalyst 11.4+Olchashcat 0.3


Between 5850 and 5870 have difense in pcs of stream units(they are most-important for LBF).

5850 - 1440 strem units

5870 - 1600 stream units

5970 - 3200 stream units , as 2x5870 , but electrical consumation is beter slow.

Best VGA Card in the world for LBF is Ati Radeon HD5970 - this card is beter of 6990 dude.

The power consumation is higher right but 4 x 5870 are in prxis faster then 2 x 5970 so you need less time for calc means less power consumation.

About 6790 forget them have here for test and have same speed as 5770.

5870 are in prxis faster then 2 x 5970 - This already evrybody knowns in DEFAULT, and no need to coment.

The man serching best price for best perfomance for good price and Low-Power consumation.

For 4 5870 must pay more money for Main board with 4 PCI-Express Slots+ 1200 Wats Power Suply, you forget this moment!

His best variants configuratin is : 1X5970 or 2x5870 or 2x5970, from lower to hignesst price.

so what I see is my idea is not too bad to build one with 4x hd5850 with 5870 bios cos in my case it will cost about £400 (gpus),£100 motherboard,£80 PSU,a cheaper CPU,and I have some parts already.
I really hope it will take 1 day or less average time to calculate one code cos now it takes max 10 days with only one hd5850 at 830mhz.
So yeah it will be a little faster anyway

Change Bios on 5850 with 5870 will not make your 5850 to 5870.
Your Stream units stays to 1440, they not will be to change to 1600 like true 5870.

This is big minus for LBF for 5850.

Will find that out cos I think the stream units disabled in hd 5850 and if u put an unlocked bios then they should work as hd 5870.
Anyway I think 650 pounds investment is still good for a machine which will find the code in about a day even with 4 hd5850.
I mean average time.

You only dream and thinking thath stream units are software-locked - this is hardware architecture of GPU !
In 5850 there are another hardware architecture of GPU RV870(Cypress ) and there are 1440 stream units thath you cannot make with Bios-Update to 1600.

I need to ask another question which is important.
I never done crossfireing so dont laugh if is stupid question.
Dont know what motherboard to buy cos if there is a mobo with 4x pcie slot all says they will be at 8x8x8x8x if all used.The best case is an msi 890FXA-GD70 mobo which will run 2 at 16x and 2 at 8x.
Will it take any effect the bruteforce speed if they run at 8x?
