What I like this forum is about so much noobs around

6990 are obsolete and slow cards, also too much power hungy.
(speed = ~ 2 x 2100MHash/sec, one card = dual GPU, power more than 400w per card)

get 3 x 7970, which are faster, colder, and less power hungry,
(speed = ~3350MHash/sec, single gpu, power = around 200W one)

3 x 3350M = ~10.150MHash/sec (10.1GHash/sec), max time per phone = 26h

2x ati hd 6990=6144 stream processors
3x ati hd 7970=6144 stream processors
ati hd 6990 up to 830MHz Engine Clock
ati hd 7970 up to 925MHz Engine Clock

you're right that faster 4-6 hours--- 3x7970

I calculate my per table-----------------------------------------
GPU speed estimations for MD5/SHA1/Office 2007/WPA/WinZip/SL3

izracunao si ga jebo si mu kevu

there is, of course, more than stream unit number etc,
it does matter the architecture of stream computing units, too.
(and higher clocks are possible on 7970 card - up to 1200MHz)

in short - I will repeat, 7970 cards = best performace per watt.

the end.
