5S Blue screen and error14 - solution inside! Hi everyone! In the spirit of sharing, I present you all the solution for the infamous blue screen/error 14 problem that usually appears after LCD changing or just disassembling the iPhone 5S. Is NOT an easy fixing, so don’t even think to start if you are not an experienced technician! As you can see in the first picture, mixing the screws will destroy some lines in the second layer of the board. Start by removing the nut (if is not already snapped out) and CAREFULLY scratch out the first layer until you see the lines. Of course, you will need one good microscope, extremely sharp tools and steady hands. Again, is not an easy job! Next step is to expose the lines and rebuild the broken ones. You can use a very thin wire (like the one from phone speaker/buzzer coil) or you can use some solder if the gap is not too big. One bad move and you will destroy more, so take care! I had just one case with just one damaged line by the longer screw, most of the time I had to rebuild 3-5 lines out of the 7 there. You can see in the pictures how is suppose to look a good board and 3 cases of affected lines . I did not have more time to trace down the lines, maybe I will find out an easy “surface jumper”, but whoever have a bare_board can try to trace that lines. It took me some real time and countless beers, so feel free to give me one when you see me, especially if I saved your a s s... ;) Of course, everything was, is and will be ©powered by oblio:) http://i59.tinypic.com/309j1ug.jpg Good board for reference: http://i62.tinypic.com/2cr0k13.jpg 3 different cases of broken lines: http://i59.tinypic.com/b9bynp.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/xbhkkh.jpghttp://i62.tinypic.com/33wphxl.jpg He he @Crew |
Thanks for great solution, there was one similar problem with the iPhone 4S the right screw of the charging port if you tear down that thing one you screw in the screw it makes some times no sound or audio problems because there are audio lines that goes down |

nice! :) http://i62.tinypic.com/f0ak2o.jpghttp://i60.tinypic.com/2ih9q87.jpg nuts was already removed, in your opinion what's the best way to scratch the first layer in that case? thanks! |
this is the one 100% bro!!!!! |
Just Received an Iphone 5s with the same issue "Blue Screen while Restoring" and "Error 14".... After inspecting the phone i noticed that the customer had tried changing the panel ..... And as suspected "Wrong screws tighten in wrong places" I removed the nut out and carefully scraped the first layer with a sharp tweezer........ And i could see 5 out of seven tracks are damaged..... http://i57.tinypic.com/jhbmdd.jpg Now im worried how can i connect those tracks.... As manupaliting them a lot would render the phone usless... and if the tracks are damaged any further i wont get another chance .... I dont have a microscope :( any suggestion on how to start with this job...... Or if @glasscom has any pics of the phones he has successfully connected the damaged tracks....... just for reference...... Thanks.... |
Use any thin copper wire (as instructed, as big as that lines). Check twice the temperature of the soldering tip. Under microscope, it would need 0.5 second to melt and solder the wire on that line. In our lab/service center, we can rebuild that 5 tracks in less then a minute. But with min 10 min preparation, which is most important. So, good luck! :) Later edit If you were able to "carefully" scratch out that layer, you have the ability to rebuild that lines. ;) |
Let The pics do the Talking :) Successfully connected the damaged tracks..... Took 2 days to do it without microscope :) my eyes r still paining :D http://i60.tinypic.com/2udx7gl.jpg Restore ....http://i59.tinypic.com/34ys0hj.jpg Restore Successful... http://i60.tinypic.com/ru7lup.jpg http://i57.tinypic.com/2a8lp5i.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/b8phms.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/radem0.jpg @Glasscom and @oblio..... Thanks to both of u guys..... For pointing me to the right direction and for moral support too :)..... Without u guys i would have abandoned this project....... But i am happy that i did this..... Now this is called real "5s Error 14" Solution...... Thanks ..... |
