iPad (charging to 1%) various models

I have encountered this problem on may different models of iPad.

It will charge the battery when in "dead battery mode" and it is not booted up. But once it boots up it quits charging the battery. Current drops to zero and the battery charging stops. The display shows battery at 1% not charging.

I have seen this several times and have not figured it out. I have crawled over the schematics Air 2 and Mini 2 but don't understand the process for turning on the charging. I see the signal out of the PMIC to turn it on. But don't know why it is missing.

If anyone has figured this out please msg me or post on this thread.

If already saw a lot of the from ipad air 1/2 mini 4 with charging up to 1% and then stops. This isnt tristar or dock flex. Sometimes the stay working if 2 amp ipad charger is used.

Most of the time the PMIC is dead and needs to be replaced. I just trow them in the parts box since here the value of these ipads is too low now.

I figured it out. It works for multiple models. It's not the PMIC!
Now the hard part of finding components for the iPad 6th Gen!

This is a PITA signature fail across multiple models. I figured it out by reverse engineering the 6th gen using iPad air schematics.

I've seen plenty of these. Keeps charging really good with a drained battery, but as soon as it boots up it stops and stays on 1%. Never tristar, dock or battery.

What do you mean with PITA signature fail? Do you know how to fix that? Tried searching both schematics and the web for PITA but just find a lot about bread Does replacing PMIC help?

Once happened to me on mini1.
It was a missing resistor near the battery connector that i accidentally ripped off during disassembly.

I've fixed many of those with same problem. its always pmic. reball or replace, it will fix your problem. temporary solution is to turn it of manually while its on and connected to charger it'll charge battery in off state.
