iphone 3g home button not working


I have an iphone 3g, known working home button installed, have changed dock but still the same, when I press the home button nothing. I can short out the ***** connectors on the dock connector and still nothing.

Has anyone a solution please

sorted, I linked the top most home button contact to earth, now all ok

To clarify, the dock connector in the iphone has two ***** contacts that the home button connects with, if linking these does not work, try linking the lower one with the bezel, if it works then solder a lead from the top one and put the other end of the lead to earth..job done
