3Gs "no Service" after trauma

Hello all. I have a 3gs that was stepped on and now the service never returns. Sim inserted is read but signal is never registered. Phone "searches" then has "no Service". I have checked USB dock connection and even swapped with a separate unit and still no avail. When comparing the logic board to a working board I can visibly see that on the rear side beneath the top left screw mount hole there is a square unit. The functioning board has what appears to be a drop of some black resin and the non functioning unit has a shiny square that has no black compound on it could this affect the cell signal? thanks

3GS LCD Connector, PCB broken

Hey guys! I've got an iPhone 3GS with a broken LCD connector. I removed the old one and saw that the connections on the PCB were gone. Any possibilities to fix this? Jumper or is it just unessesary connections.

I have an iphone 4s bought in the US and I am trying to get it unlocked so that I can use it in Singapore. The person who sold me the phone replaced the sim card slot with a gevy slot. When I insert a singtel sim a message pops up "Only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier maybe used to activate iphone" I restored the phone via itunes and currently stuck with the language selection screen. When I go ahead trying to activate the same message pops up. I do not have the parent sim or att sim which I used when I was in USA. If the OP or anyone else guide me as to how to unlock my phone that would be very helpful.
