he used the code to unlock his phone, which doesnt do anything to network. Check ur imei in cwta databse if ur phone is blacklisted if it is then it is not going to work in Canada.

there are two way u can use ur phone again

1.Send it outside Canada and it will work with other countries
2. change imei (which is ofcourse illegal to do it).

I will recommend to send it outside the Canada other than u r smart enough to make a call for urself

I have an i527m on telus and now it is unlocked but does not work. I had it briefly work on Rogers for about 30 seconds. I have rooted but that's all I know. It looks like ALI and Badsha figured this out, is there a possibility of a step by step? How did you guys get the qcn file from each other?

first check the phone on Protect Your Data. Protect Yourself.

thanks for your help Badsha, essentially I have lost the value of the phone so I am going to pay the karma forward and post an ad to give the phone back to the rightfull owner if they can tell me the imei number.

I have to be more careful when I buy phones off craigslist.

Just for the info, once the phone is blacklisted, it cant be undone so there is no point returning the phone bcoz it will be pretty useless for him as well...

Downloaded QCN file by rekamyenoM (Special thanks to him)
When I used that QCN file, my IMEI changed to his phone IMEI.
Edited the QCN file by WINHEX, change the IMEI to my IMEI (The IMEI values are written in NV_Item 550) it is written in the format 08, 3A, 75. backward format) and used QPST to apply the new EDITED file. IMEI changed
I knew about these issues so i backed up nvm via qpst and octoplus

when i unlocked the phone same thing happened so tried to re-write the nvm via octoplus which didn't work

then tried to restore to original nvm via qpst but "phone restart fails" thus unable to restore to original

so far have nvm backed up in both version but uable to fix

50% of the Mega I527 I unlocked experience this strange symptom. I wish I had copied the nvm backups from the good unlocked ones before updating the software since that erased the backup folder
I have solved this issue if you need the fix.

If you write my qcn file to the phone it will work again. The qcn will change your IMEI number, but then just use EFS Pro to change it back.
