Simple SIM-Cloning question

I've read a guide, and as far as i understand this is the way to clone a sim-card: (described very simple)

build a SIM-reader
use some software to get IMSI and KI, and use som other software before i burn the .hex with a Smartcard burner.

But i'm not sure about the sim reader.
I don't think i will be able to make this one myself, so can i use a standard reader meant to be used to manage phonebook entries/SMS, sold in many computer/gsm stores? Or is this an "unusual" reader?

To extract KI+IMSI You need Phoenix/Smartmouse reader.
Readers You have described as :
"used to manage phonebook entries/SMS, sold in many computer/gsm stores"
is probably Chipdrive. With this device You can't extract keys
So all You have to do is get Phoenix/Smartmouse ...

@Geezuzz

You make sat cards you said...
For making sat cards you can also read the contents of those cards you made right? The programmer you use for that is most likely also able to read gsm cards. No need to buy extra equipment.

Didn't you test this ?

@=KnOeFz=-

We have to different programmers, so programming the different card types is not a problem. And yes, they also reads the sat cards.

But the problem is
I tried once to extract KI+IMSI, but i got error message, somerthing about connection problem i think. Since it is written in the guide I read that you need to build the burner yourself, i thought that was the reason. But you really mean that it is not sure I need anything else than the programmer I have?

What programs are available for KI+IMSI extracting?

Cool

@Geezuzz

I think if your programmers are able to read and write eeprom and pic of sat smartcards they should be ok for use with simscan.

There's only 2 progs available for ki extraction that I know of:

Cardinal6.8... but you should NOT use this as there's a good chance this will f*ck up your original cards... This is my own experience

Simscan 1.33... This works perfect. The new 1.33 version is also very fast!

If you have troubles running simscan try to run if with pc booted from win98 bootdisk and use a dos extender like CWSDPMI.EXE.

The first time you should get a file named PAR2.BIN (takes about an hour) but on some pc's (including mine) this fails... I can send you if you need it.

You can use F5-F1 to extract KI with simscan v1.33
for old version (1.21) use F5-F3

Hope this wil help you.

It didn't work. In dos mode i didn't get a error message after i pressed F5 to get KI - but nothing happened, and some text/code appeared at bottom of screen, before the programm exited (but the blue background didn't disappear...)

i also tried it in Winme, but i got this error message:

"Fatal Error: Card don't send answer to reset !"

I suppose that means that i will not be able to get KI with my programmer?
