what software version to use for "test point software"

Unfortunately, the software testpoint won't work on this high version (11.0.0.246).
Try the original hisuite program. Perhaps it will allow you to roll back to a lower version.

In most cases, version 10.1 is the last version that the software testpoint runs on. If you have a higher version, use a hardware testpoint.
