Someone recommended volume boost. I have firmware 3.1.2 and from what I've read the software has to match the firmware. Is there a volume boost that will work with 3.1.2 on a 2g iphone?

The easy solution to making the ringer volume louder is to put little holes in the plastic and it works. I wonder if a tiny slit where the ear speaker is covered would be the only real solution also. Although dust could get inside.
