I have an Dell E6420 that a termed employee sent back with BIOS and HDD password applied. Dell service got me in the BIOS but they state they can't help with the HDD password and only provided a password that would wipe the drive. They wouldn't pass me to level 2 or 3 support. I need to recover data and need help getting the HDD password.

After buying a larger disk drive for my Dell Latitude CPt I am getting the “Hard-disk #xxxxxxx - 595B, the system primary HDD is protected by a password authentication system” message.

Cancel this request. After finding the "secret" website and trying and failing with all of the suggested passwords I discover that the tiny cable select jumper (D-B) was installed on the replacement drive. I removed the jumper and the HDD password request screen went away.
