MacBook EFI unlock for the first time - GSM-Forum

I’m trying to unlock an EFI password on a 2017 MacBook Pro model A1708 EMC 3164 but didn’t get a specific professional tool yet as it’s my first attempt.

While searching for free dump files I can only find one for EMC 3154 but not for 3164.

Are these two compatible? Is the EMC number ever important in these particular cases? Thank you.

Hi...There is the same Macbook a1708, with a password. Did you find a solution to the problem?

I didn’t have professional tools but I had CH341a (not recommended for commercial purposes) You need to backup your EFI chip first and edit the file (there’s plenty of video tutorials explaining it using ’hex editor’) and then reprogram it. Model number matters, EMC matters, even your chip firmware ‘in particular’ matters because it contains the serial number and other specific addresses to your device)
