If you have unsigned(generic) version of MSM8610, it must be directly supported by exe.
you can check making boot info, and see what exe will report.

Most posible phone is not in edl mode.
In incoming version was added this kind of handle user mistake.
Exe will give corect error mesage.

Posible you have nckbox and trying to use nckdongle exes.
Or posible you have main exe opened and trying to use another exe.
