Thanks for this tons of info! I'm trying really hard to catch up and understand the game. One question to start, I read in another thread that you can visualize the VSM files by erasing the 0x20 row in a hex editor. I have try it and nothing comes up. Of course I have change the extension to .png

Can somebody post with pictures how to do it?

BTW I will be expecting with insanity the VSM program!

thanks

If you want to do it manually, the following picture may help.

The parseVSM program to extract the image and other files from the VSM file is already available, and is easier than manually extracting the image.

If you want to create a custom VSM, you can do it right now with the Online VSM creator, well, maybe not instantly since you need to register first.

CRC32 checksum???

@ the last two posts.
-- you should read a little bit the answer to your questions are on the first page.

my question

-- i have tried to calculate the 4 bytes with the CRC 32 checksum i cant seem to get the right answer. ive tried to calculate it from non modified VSM file and it never comes out right. what CRC coverter should i use?

heres how i do it, plz let me know what im doing wrong.
this is from VSM-15276-002 feel free to check it out.
i take the length of the resourses 117c.
Throw it in the CRC32 calc. http://crc32-checksum.waraxe.us/
and i get 0x08C65FA9 now take that from 0xffffffff which equals 0xF739A056 (in little-endian form is 56 a0 39 f7)
and is in no way close to D6 B7 02 EF.

How do you input this into winhex to manually change the vendor ID? I'm trying to make a custom boost mobile vsm. Thanks!

You don't put data into WinHex, you use WinHex to open the original file and then modify it.

So once it's open I go to Line 00 and colum C. Right click and click "edit" then "modify data" then what's next? when I click hexadecimal it states X is not allowed. I just want a VSM with 268 vendor ID. Any help would be tremendous!

If there's anyone here willing to do a custom VSM for me, I'd be willing to pay for it. Yes, I can do this on my own, but I'm too busy to do it.

Thanks in advance.
