Good post and question. When I started to read this, I just think "WTF", this is not as easy. But this men says have time for study. Also good post the men about different curses. What I wanna say, is that is nice to see u wanna be a big man on this bussiness. And perfect if u study all that, u will be a very qualified man. But, If u want just to study just for have a box, YOU MUST HAVE AND IDEA. This is a very competitive camp, and very rivals tryng to crack your box. If u study all of that, and, at end u know how to make a box.... U will need a great idea for be sucessfull.

really? learn C from scratch? every part of it? online?

;; If you are learning from scratch the way you wanted it, you have to buy a book NOT read online, online is fine for research or if you already know programming
;; It will Hurt your eyes in few days of reading, make you dizzy and your head aches, its not like reading a novel.

Buy one of this in your country, used or new.
I can recommend only 3 of the best. pick one.

Amazon.com: A Book on C: Programming in C (4th Edition) (9780201183993): Al Kelley, Ira Pohl: Books

Amazon.com: C Programming: A Modern Approach, 2nd Edition (9780393979503): K. N. King: Books

Amazon.com: C Primer Plus (5th Edition) (0752063326961): Stephen Prata: Books

Hey Bro, just start leaning from javascript than switch to c++ (functionality), and than OO. while doing this you have to go through some algorithems and data structures. so i recomend to you first javascript for the basic idea of the functionalities like loops if/else or wat ever. than try to use this knowledge in c or c++. and when you feel confident try to understand the classes and procedures. here u have to spend some time.
as for as electronics is concern you have to read few books. but as you say its from scratch so brother it will take you 5 years to develop ur own box.
simple buy the codes from Nokia and design ur own interface launch the box.
while in roam do as roman do.
Don't spend this much time on this project u know IT changes so after 5 years where it will stand one can dream about it.

let me know something:
As far i am just dedicated to make my own flash tool. But i have not confirmed in which brand i will work.As here in nepal mostly brand like Nokia,Chines,Samsung & very few other models are used..So i have been concentrated in the most used phones here....

Somebody told me each gsm software has been written in different languages. So i want to know if there any requirments of programming language for particular gsm brand.I mean IF I can start nokia coding with C, can i also do coding in other brands with the same languages? or i need to learn another one?

@everybody:thanks for your replies, plz make this thread clean & informative.

You can choose any language to code your own tool.

You dont need to switch to another tool just for other brand.

But better stick with Delphi or C and you can get source codes in these language.

Suppose you start with VB.NET just bcoz of easiness, and then you get delphi code to convert to VB.NET, it may prove a nightmare task for you.

And starting with Nokia is not a bad idea, if you have enough skill, but if not, you may start with some easier things like MTK (Chinese) Phones or others. Nokia, i think is a little tougher than them ( unless you need to read/write pm, do factory reset etc.)

Br,
Shadab Ahmad

If you really want to learn then it is better to take class coz you can't start from book as you have stated that you was a newbie in programming.

I am also not so tough in GSM programming and I am also not regular on this site due to my examination. So better to contact me by phone and I will give you little training on C basic on sunday. So if you want a suday class then just mail me you contact no. at sap.corpyahoo.com
I will mail you some of ebooks during my free time.

Donate money to this user
there is something that all members disregard it :
you have to learn about 32bit microcontrollers like STM , infinion , etc....
because all of all mobile phones have these MCUs.
and this knowledge isn't easy enough to learn
and also you have to learn about 8bit microcontrollers used in all BOX's like atmega8 in tornado ,but fortunately this is easier from 32bit MCUs
regards ....
