Hello everyone.

I heard that EDGE uses the same frequency as GPRS and GSM, is it possible to support EDGE in a GPRS phone by only upgrading the GSM Baseband firmware?

And, as far as I know, GPRS uses the same frequency as GSM, is it possible to add GPRS support in a GSM only phone by upgrading the firmware? and why?

Typically not possible to upgrade from GSM/GPRS to EDGE with just simple firmware upgrade. They uses different modulation scheme, so the RF processing is different. Of course, unless the firmware of that part can be changed too (software defined radio?).
