few things which i know i can tell.

to unlock or communicate to phone

you need to know platform. that's the first thing.

you need to know how to deal with phone to repair something . that's the protocol of communication.

you need to know phone will work with calculated code or stored code at some where at phone. that's the algo third step.

you need to know that if phones commands which its accept crc / check sum which need to send with commands without it no reply you can get.

to unlock some phones its really easy in developing like reading code in stored area. and typing code at phone.

to unlock high security base phones like sagem which use calculation method. to unlock this type of secure platform need to calculate correct code which is not not easy at all.

to unlock some phone which have firmware read protected need to learn about there bootloader and unlocking at boot mode/flash mode.

but there are many things its depend.

The central of unlocking software developement is cracking (reverse engineering), you must to know how to develop first.

It seems to me that the base start point to work with unlocking is to understand Assembly 100% then u can start look here and there for other things
as CPUs understand only this way ( Assembly ) so u have to give and take from it only by this way

or i am wrong in this?!?!

Probably the best way to start is to learn a programming language (higher level) from beginner level.

The reason is, if you analyze the phone ASeMbly code, find a solution- how can you implement this if you dont know how to write your program?

Also it will help you get into the "programming mind set", analytical and logical ways of thinking.

You can learn on your own, in your spare time. No need for a teacher.

Choose a language, something like VB .NET is a nice choice. The tools for making programs is free to download http://www.microsoft.com/Express/VB/ and you will be making nice looking applications in no time.

Then do a google search for forums (if you search google for "VB .NET forum" you will et many hits). Probably better is to buy a nice book and work through the chapters in your spare time.

Good luck!
