    Enable 850mHZ on SE K800i

Hello, Is there any way to get the 850 Band on the Sony ericsson K800? Hardware modification? Main board swapping? Software enabling 850? I mainly need 850-1900 bands but i got a hell of a deal for the k800i Silver special edition for 275.00USD

The phone is also UMTS (quadband), if you need 850 go for the K790a

So what is the difference from the K800i and K790a main board? or is it just software or something?

Hardware support for UMTS (2100mhz) instead 850mhz.

I was looking for the same, thats why I found this thread, I wrote script into k800 for 850-900-1800-1900
test menu shows all 4 bands but need to test if it is true.
script was text file in misc folder with gdfswrite:000000AC12 like manual in setool support forum:
    make gdfs backup 1st.
    ----------------------
Create and execute the following script:
    gdfswrite:000000ACXX

Set XX to whatever corresponds to your phones bandlock:

    Code:
    ;00 MS_GSM900
    ;01 MS_EGSM900
    ;02 MS_DCS1800
    ;03 MS_PCS1900
    ;04 MS_GSM900_DCS1800
    ;05 MS_EGSM900_DCS1800
    ;06 MS_GSM900_PCS1900
    ;07 MS_EGSM900_PCS1900
    ;08 MS_DCS1800_PCS1900
    ;09 MS_GSM900_DCS1800_PCS1900
    ;0a MS_EGSM900_DCS1800_PCS1900
    ;0b MS_GSM850
    ;0c MS_GSM850_PCS1900
    ;0d MS_EGSM900_GSM850
    ;0e MS_DCS1800_GSM850
    ;0f MS_EGSM900_DCS1800_GSM850
    ;10 MS_EGSM900_GSM850_PCS1900
    ;11 MS_DCS1800_GSM850_PCS1900

I read somewhere that k800 has actually hardware for 850/900/1800/1900, and if it is for u.s. market then 850/1800/1900 is enabled and if it is for euro and asia market then 900/1800/1900 is enabled. So I enabled all 4 bands via script and will see if it works or not in very short time. test menu shows all 4 bands now, but need to field test it too and post here asap.

so dont say impossible b4 test.

k790 k800 does not matter, same hardware.

I have all 4 bands operating here and so far it works ok on 850 mhz, it looks like u are wrong and I am right,

but I will post if not ok here, since I have to do some more field testing.
