New to GSM but not new to phone modifications - GSM-Forum

Alright so let me start off by saying that, i recently ditched my dreaded iden nextel/sprint POS and picked my self up a Sony Ericsson w810i through cingular/at&t. I am not new to vbulletin, I am not new to iden & cell phone software/hardware modifications. I used to be real big into it with unlocking, software hacks etc... but i feel like a complete newb with this new sony.

Before making this post i did a few searches but came up with dead links and old information which was unclear.

Some things i dont understand are people refering to the 810i as "orange"?

can anyone clarify what this means? Also, my phone is locked to cingular but while i plan on staying with them, are there any real advantages to unlocking/debranding this phone?

I know with iden, (nextel & boost) the only real advantage was being able to swap simcards between the two. Will unlocking these phones unlock new features as well?

Secondly, how would i go about having this phone debranded, i havn't gotten a chance to read through the rules yet as i am quite anxious, so is there anyway i can unlock this my self with out paying for the remote service? I've got a ton of iden software for trade, so either PM me, reply here, or message me on aim if you can help
