May i ask why you're wanting to change the customization strings? I don't know of any reason to.

An unbranded T610 can't be officially upgraded. I tried today.

If you take it to service centers, EMMA2 recognizes it as a customized phone and doesn't allow the operator to upload non-EU6/7 AVRs and ARMs.

There are only two thing common to every ex-vodafone user that does not change:
    - CDA102222 (string common even to 02 users)
    - a strange thing in the ITP Version string. On my ex Voda it ends with "_ TP", but on originally free phones it's something like ".TP"

So I think it's worth changing those strings and retrying... don't you?

I don't want to say to people whose phones I unbranded that they'll have to take it back to me if they need an upgrade to the latest version, unless they don't want Vodafone back! :|

i think if you really need it, try to contact with authors of DIV or SEF softwares.
Or learn more about SE GDFS system and do it yourself.

Anyway, any underground service, not only you can upgrade firmware on such phones.

I don't want them to be cut from the official line...

You think, SE must contiune its warranty on phone after it was unbranded in unauthorised service center?

I think they can void warranty and swup will cost money even in official service center?

    Lightbulb

Even after some forum topics reading:I still've not found a simple way to change the MS & TAE CDA customization strings in old SE phones.

Looking through my data archives, I've found a little utility: GDF Creator for DIV by merwin - v0.0.1

Generated text strings should then be copied into a *.GDF text file and flashed by DIV or SEMCTool (tested on my T630).

It's almost useless now, but let's preserve it for historical purposes

File Type: zip DIVGDFCreator_011.zip (7.2 KB, 6 views)
