HTC Touch /w busted LCD, how to get ESN from it?

Completely new to this sort of stuff, so bare with me. I've been reading a bit about it this morning but am still a bit confused.

I currently have an HTC Touch with a wrecked LCD display (the touch digitizer does still work). I'm looking to use this ESN on another phone for a few weeks until the new display comes from China.

I have a couple questions:

1) Is there any way to get the ESN data (and whatever else is needed) from the Touch, even though it has no screen? It was running Android, but if necessary I think I could get a Windows Mobile rom back on there, don't know if I could get anything installed, etc though.

2) Once I have said ESN data, can I use it on any type of phone?

3) What keys will I all need? I've read about ESN, pESN, MEID, Akeys, Skeys, SPC, MSL, etc. I'm a bit confused.

So far I have tried mtty.exe with the phone in bootloader mode, and I can't seem to get it to connect. I have also tried running CDMA WorkShop when the phone is in bootloader mode, but it shoots me a "phone is not replying" error when I hit read.
