zte z981 replacement screen digitizer not working - GSM-Forum

Hi, I have zte Z981 (Zmax Pro) from MetroPCS. Screen was damaged so I ordered replacement from Amazon. Upon reassembly digitizer not responsive at all. Unable to register any touch on android welcome screen (had to perform faactory reset to bypass fingerprint lock)_. Oddly when I reattch the broken screen touch is active again. This is the second replacement unit with same issue so I am wondering if it is a hardware revision and I just need to sideload the appropriate drivers via ADB? ]Or am I missing something totally obvious? I am stumped and unable to find any info (other than a couple of other people posting in forums with similar issue and no solution). Seller has no info.
Even if you dont have an answer, if you could point me in the right direction I have no problem putting in the work to try and find problem just dont know where to begin.... Logfiles have to be there somewhere but I dont know where to look for the files or in the files where to ID error...
Please and thank you. I've tried everything I can think of from the RECOVERY menu (stock) maybe reflash the latest rom b ut unsure if thats what I should do.
