Member: 2269892 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | iPad 4 soft dfu, error 4014 and error 14 Just thought I would post my findings and see if anyone could help with a fault I have with an iPad 4 I have just brought as faulty. I was told the iPad had been dropped and now no power. When connecting it to the computer it was detected but no serial number was detected in iTunes and the iPad screen remained black..trying to restore resulted in error 4014. Redsnow reported it was in soft dfu. After hours of forums and trying different software to kick it out of soft dfu I decided to open the iPad up. Nothing was out of place and no signs of damage under microscope. Tested many components and they were all getting the correct voltages. I thought I had no hope now of fixing it but then thought about the missing serial number in iTunes. I decided to reflow then nand as a last resort and it now boots and works perfectly for a few hours. Then blue screen and restarts with a kernel panic on rebooting. I decided to restore again with another laptop and cable as my ports on my laptop were giving me trouble and I kept getting error 14. Finally after 10 or so attempts it restores. Now I am happily using this iPad to type this long message (sorry) but not without problems. If I open anything graphics demanding or sometimes safari it restarts in to a boot loop.i then have to soft restart many times until it boots or if I give the back of the iPad a little heat it then boots straight away. Now do you think the nand will be causing this still and will a re ball fix this? There are no signs of excessive heat and no shorts detected on dc bench supply Sorry again for the long message and thanks for any advice |
