Is the proximity sensor flex cable paired to Face ID?

I accidentally ripped the front proximity front face flex cable that is glued to the iPad Pro's 11" LCD panel. It tore off at the microphone branch (? sits over a hole). I tried to splice it back together, but it's a real pain even with a microscope. It's easier to just buy a brand new one (called proximity flex cable), but I am concerned that I will lose face Id.

On the iPhone Pro X, the face id functionality is part of the camera assembly which looks identical to the one on my iPad Pro which is mounted to the housing behind the LCD, not to the LCD itself. This could mean that the proximity sensor isn't paired to Face Id and replacing it should be fine.

I am now confused. Are there any components on the flex cable locked to Face ID? If so, can they be transferred from the old cable to the new one?
