iPhone 2G Restore Problem

Hey Guys,
Im not sure what version this 2g iphone was before I tried restoring it, it was either 1.1.1 or 1.1.2. But whenever I go into iTunes and restore it, I am getting "an unknown error has occurred (20). Im using iTunes 7.5. The iPhone is stuck in restore now. ZiPhone doesn't even detect the iPhone. The screen on the phone just keeps on looping between the apple sign and the connect to iTunes sign. Is the phone bricked? Does anyone know what I can do to fix it?
Thanks
Basha
