Here is the story
İ repaired imei on august built.
After i update september built my phone stuck on bootloop
When it is bootloop flash firmware with edl mode
Bootloop again
This is important it is bootloop with fresh firmware too
Only way is delete imei on edl mode. Then it starting proper.but imei gone. if restore qcn bootloop again

i fix my bootlop exactly with you solution (delete ime edl mode). but this time i lost my imei. bst team pls help us

august built is ok
september buit bootloop after imei repair

1. Enter Fastboot or EDL mode (install drivers if needed)
2. Press "Scan" and then press "Factory Reset"

No have MI A1 in chinese market, MI5X have here, but its different factory code as we known.

MI 5X: tiffany
MI A1: tissot

If you have MIA1 imei working phone in your hands, i wanna remote check how to repair imei for this phone.

same problem with my a1 too
using it with august update without a problem.
google mixed things up with the new A/B system thing.
hope this will solved with the oreo update

Same problem. There is an update at ota. And i disabled updates. and now i am using it like that. No update.
