I think for higher version 5.0 or 5.0.1 etc you need to root phone.

if not work search for KINGS ROOT APK.
if not work search for CFAUTO ROOT L720T.

With same version your phone have, dont need write anoder. Flash with same firmware and you will be abble to root it.
